Originally started by my mum in 1982, Corstan began breeding Welsh Section B's, with the foundation section A mare Revel Sorento and our own section B stallion Blethni Petruchio. We aimed to breed ponies with bone and substance that would go on to perform.
Early 90's, trends changed and the smaller lighter riding pony 'type' section B's came into fashion which wasn't a direction we wanted to follow so mum stopped breeding and the Corstan prefix was signed over to me to start with Section C's.
I started riding when I was 5, home taught by mum on my first pony Springhill Colorado, an unregistered Sec B gelding. He had seen it all before and taught me everything there was to know, not your typical 1st pony because he was cunning and only ever gave as much as asked and only if asked correctly. He never had a nasty bone in his body and would look after me at any cost but would test my ability regularly. I can always remember shouting to mum 'I can't stop, hes bolting!!'. She rushed to the paddock in a panic to find colly walking...with a set neck, mouth open and jaws crossed. When he decided he'd had enough he set himself and went in, that didn't even change even into his 30's!!.jpg)
Talent spotted at 11yrs old by Sarah Rook of the Stambrook Stud I went on to compete at Olympia and other major shows and at 13yrs old I represented Great Britain in the Side Saddle team in 1987. We went to Essen Equitana in Germany, the Royal Tournament and The Horse of the Year Show.
I continued ro ride for people into my teens with much success but had a break in my early 20's.
Since then I have had the opportunity to have such beautiful ponies on loan to compete with and they have all been part of the family. Without such generous and supportive owners I would be lost so huge thanks to you all...You know who you are.
Finally I could not acheive all of this without the love & support from my partner, Dave and Dad the chief 'stable lad' whilst i'm away at shows.
So thats me, now for the important part the Ponies....
